You are maintaining your body so well, but the carb craving is getting too hard to skip these days. Having a tasty treat would satisfy your craving, but you are concerned about weight gain. Who says all tasty treats will make you gain weight?
Unlike typical muffin recipes, this whole wheat apple cinnamon muffins recipe will handle the craving as well as give you a great tasting snack without compromising much with the weight.
Ingredients That You Will Need
This recipe requires both dry and wet ingredients to make the muffins. The quantity of the ingredients is for 2 dozen muffins, so, if you want to make 1 dozen, half the ingredients.
- 2 Cup wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp sea salt
- 2 eggs
- ⅔ cup honey
- ¾ cup olive oil
- ½ cup yogurt
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 peeled, cored, and diced apples
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ⅔ cup wheat flour
- 4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 tbsp melted butter
Right into the Baking
Gather all the dry ingredients that you have collected for the muffins. Mix wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sea salt. Give them a good mix so that it gets hard to recognize one particular ingredient.
Now, take a separate bowl, and mix all the wet ingredients in it. Mix olive oil, honey, egg, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until it doesn’t look pretty to you. Even though the mix looks nasty, it would be hard for you to keep the eyes off muffins.
Consider stirring dry ingredients into the wet ones, and combining them properly. You should see a nice paste out of them.
Got the apples ready? Peel, core, and dice the apples, and fold the pieces into the muffin mix. The pieces shouldn’t be too small or too large. Then, add the muffin mix into the muffin liners. It should be ⅔ full.
For topping, take a mixing bowl, and mix wheat flour, melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix them until you see a good topping texture.
Now, spoon the topping that you have just prepared onto the muffins. It should be 1tbs for each one.
Then, the muffin trays go straight into the oven for baking. Set the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 17 minutes.
No More Waiting, Eat Right Away
Once you somehow manage to resist your hunger or craving, and pass 17 minutes, it’s time to open the oven, and bring the goodies. Your house will be filled with the aroma of apple and cinnamon, and you can hardly resist your hunger at this point.
Go ahead, and have some. You can finish half a dozen of the muffins if you are okay with it. Whenever your carb craving pushes you hard to eat something dense in carb, try any of these to fill the craving without consuming much carb.
You can keep the muffins at room temperature for about a week. When you want to have some, microwave for 17 seconds, and enjoy the healthy and great tasting treat.
Was the whole wheat apple cinnamon muffins recipe difficult? Hope not. For both kids, young, and adults, this can be a great tasting snack without spending much time and effort to make it.
